Require SSL SSL/TLS setting in Server Administration
In MyWorkDrive you may choose if you wish to require SSL/TLS encryption from a trusted certificate for all connections, cookies, and session tokens from all providers. This includes SSO, MFA, Office Online Editing, Storage Connections, Document viewers, etc.
This setting is enabled by selecting “Require SSL” on the settings page of admin on the server.
This setting isn’t just for the Web client browser or Install client connections to your server; but for all connections to/from your server. Other types of connections commonly occur with SSO/SAML Login, by using our build in viewers for Documents and PDFS, connections to OneDrive/SharePoint or Azure Storage, or in connections to Office Document Editing with Microsoft or 3rd parties
When SSL Required is enabled, but all connections cannot be verified by a trusted certificate, you may get SSL/TLS errors or blank pages in the application.
Some reasons you might disable SSL Required include,
- You are testing internally and are not using SSL/TLS Encryption for your client connection.
- You are using SSL Offloading and the connection between MyWorkDrive and your proxy is not encrypted.
- Some element used with MyWorkDrive uses a Self Signed certificate which is not trusted/validated by a CA.
Version History
6.4.1 and earlier
In MyWorkDrive 6.4.1 and earlier, this setting was available, but was not enabled by default.
6.4.2
In MyWorkDrive 6.4.2 and later, this setting is enabled by default for new installations. It can be disabled, if required. Upgrades of existing 6.4.1 and earlier installs retain the setting of the existing installation.
7.0
With Active Directory Identity, the setting works the same as 6.4.2 – it is on by default for new installations, can be disabled if required, and retains the existing setting for upgrades from earlier versions
With Entra ID Identity, since Microsoft requires a secure connection for OIDC authentication and the Storage API for data connections to Azure, Require SSL is always enabled and there is no option to disable it.
